I never thought I would be blogging about garbage cans until I came across this…
Some family in NYC ( I think) was tired of there garbage cans being stolen, so they went ahead and personalized them! How funny…
Then I came across this from a fellow blogger and thought this was a realistic and rather cute DIY.
She took her garbage cans from her pantry, painted them with chalkboard paint and allowed her daughter to decorate them.
Now when she opens her dull pantry closet, there is a little bit of life in there.

I have disappeared for quite some time, but with good reason. We, at Pink Pineapple Home have a lost an amazing women, who we all considered our inspiration. Hilda Miller, our Mother & Grandmother passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012. Hilda had the finest taste in everything, but especially home decor. Through the years, we have been lucky enough to furnish our homes with her beautiful furniture and accessories. I believe she is the reason we ultimately opened Pink Pineapple Home. From the beginning of time, she inspired us and made us fall in love with all things beautiful. As a young child, I remember her picking up an antique chair and telling me what a deal she got on it… She will be beyond missed by many, but us at PPH will be even more inspired, just to make her proud.

I love this time a year for 1 million reasons but the annual Holiday House in NYC is one of them. Top designers showcase a room and proceeds go to breast cancer research. If in the area, they have extended the opening for another week! Just got a glimpse of Tobi Fairley’s room…She is one of my favorites.

Find the Right Spot
Look for a sturdy piece of furniture with enough room around it to allow people to congregate while pouring drinks. Then choose a tray that works with your setting—wood, wicker, and silver are stylish options.
Gather the Essentials
On the tray, set out basic liquors (vodka, bourbon, scotch, and gin) and mixers (tonic water, club soda, and ginger ale) with pretty packaging. Add an ice bucket, a small bowl for lemons and limes, and a cup to hold stirrers. “Sprinkle in glass and silver items for a bit of sparkle,” says Phoebe.

“This is one area where a little decadence goes a long way,” says Phoebe. “I love the feel of a fine old-fashioned glass in my hand.”

How many of you have cool pictures, magazine clippings etc. and have nothing to do with them? My daughter loves to cut out images from her Teen Vogue and tapes them up in her closet. I came across this project and was impressed by how great this looks and yet so easy and inexpensive to do.
A Japanese washi tape, is a great option to frame with. All you need is the tape, your clippings, an x-acto knife + some creativity. You will be awesome! Change up the shapes around your photos, scatter them across the wall in a cool pattern, frame your childrens art work… You can buy the tape here or here.

There is such a common theme in these stunning spaces. Let’s start with animal print, Hollywood Regency, peacock chairs, lanterns, lucite, Scalamandre, and most importantly texture. They all are still different but have common design elements of what is simply ‘beautiful.’
